Whirlwind Tour of Our Capitol City
Become a part of our nation’s most historic landscape and feel history come to life as you “visit” some of our country’s most beloved sites. The first stop will be at the Lincoln Memorial, where you will climb the marble steps to the temple that enshrines Abraham Lincoln. From there, you will take a short walk to the somber setting of the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Your guide will then walk you to the Korean War Veterans Memorial –a powerful reminder of this important war.

Your next stop will be at the National World War II Memorial. The memorial honors the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S. during World War II, the more than 400,000 who died, and the millions who supported the war effort from home. Symbolic of the defining event of the 20th Century, the memorial is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the American people to the common defense of the nation and to the broader causes of peace and freedom from tyranny throughout the world.

End the day with a stop on Pennsylvania Avenue at Lafayette Park to view the White House. As you approach the White House through Lafayette Park, your Capitol Services tour guide will tell you the history of the park and of the many famous buildings that surround you.

If time permits we will continue on to one of the newer additions to Washington’s prestigious monuments– Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. This first major national memorial erected in honor of a 20th century president, is also the first presidential memorial to honor a first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.

Stops Include:
Lincoln Memorial
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial
WWII Memorial
Lafayette Park

A Tribute to Our Nation's Heroes
This tour begins with a stop at Arlington National Cemetery, where the sight of some two hundred thousand identical headstones uniformly placed on a hillside of 612 acres overlooks the Potomac River. Tour these hallowed grounds on the Tourmobile tram where your guide will share with you the many stories of the fallen heroes who were our American casualties of war. Next, view the powerful Eternal Flame that illuminates the inspiring and somber gravesites of President John F. Kennedy, his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Robert Kennedy. The tour continues on to The Tomb of the Unknowns, a moving site guarded 24 hours a day and a monument to those fallen American soldiers that remain unknown. Witness the impressive “Changing of the Guard” ceremony performed with perfect precision by a team of Marines, which takes place hourly at the tomb. We can also arrange for your sponsorship of the “laying of the wreath.” And finally, tour the Women in Military Service For America Memorial.

Continue past the monument recently erected honoring the brave astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. Your guide will also point out several burial sites of famous Americans – such as the gravesite of our former Commerce Secretary, Ron Brown, who was killed in a plane crash while on an official mission to Bosnia. Next you will see the United States Marine Memorial affectionately known as the Iwo Jima Memorial. The memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in the defense of the United States since 1775. The sculpture was designed by sculptor Felix W. de Weldon, then on duty with the U.S. Navy, from the Pulitzer prize-winning photo by news photographer Joe Rosenthal.

Your final stop of the day will be a visit to the newest memorial in Washington DC, the National World War II Memorial. The memorial honors the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S. during World War II, the more than 400,000 who died, and the millions who supported the war effort from home.

A Day at The Smithsonian
Your first stop is at the world famous and most visited museum on the planet, The Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum – absolute must for any visitor to our Capital City! This magnificent glass and marble building maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. Located on the Mall, the Museum has hundreds of artifacts on display including the original Wright 1903 “Flyer,” Charles Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis,” the Apollo 11 command module, “The Voyager,” which flew around the world on one tank of gas and a lunar rock display that visitors can touch. This Museum is a fitting tribute to the great explorers who have advanced the history of flight.

Explore our fascination with flight through the air and in space. View Earth from the open cargo bay of the Space Shuttle. Journey to natural and manmade wonders of the world. These and other thrills await you in the National Air and Space Museum's Lockheed Martin IMAX® Theater. Giant-screen films are projected on the five-story-high screen with 6-channel digital surround sound.

The National Museum of Natural History features wonders of the natural world from the world’s largest mammal (a bull elephant) to a newly renovated Insect Zoo. Its great halls feature everything from the skull of a Tyrannosaurus Rex to Ice Age Mammals. You’ll not want to miss the presumably cursed Hope Diamond in the Gem and Mineral Collection! New exhibits include The coelacanth: More Living than Fossil, Everyday Fantasies: The Jeweled Art of Sidney Mobell, and Science in the News. The Museum of Natural History is dedicated to understanding the natural world and our place in it.
